I can't get any ported weapon from the box or upgrade it!

For some reason when I use someones ported weapon from the modme forms I get it in the game and it works, but I can not get it out of the box or I can not upgrade. I assume it has to do with a file in source_data. If any one had this problem before I would appreciate if you could help me out or if you know how to fix it. It was not like this before.
