I see all these crazy cool Minecraft maps and I want to know where people get the textures for the grass block, stone, fences, and wood so I can make a map of my own.

The image extension for Minecraft textures is png, so you need to convert it to tiff
The addition of textures to mod tool etc. is taught in detail in the video, so please have a look here.
