hello everyone, so i recently deleted my zombie map that i worked 2+ months on (i know im stupid), but i managed to get it back from a hard drive recovery software. When i open the autosave, it is in some weird type of language or encryption that i do not understand (it is a long line of numbers and letters and appears to be in hexadecimal when i open it in Sublime, but some other weird language when i open it in Notepad) is there a way to convert this back or use this so i can paste it in a new map's MAP file so i can get my map back? any help would be appreciated and ill credit you in my map for helping

not sure if you should even use a recovered map file that you used some sort of software to recover as it may be missing information in the file itself (corrupted) had this happen to me with something i had deleted

however not is all lost

goto your black ops 3 route folder SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Black Ops III

and look for the folder named Radiant go into it and you should see a folder called Autosave_backup search for your map name there may be 1000 of them btw

look for the 1 usually at the bottom of the list that has the newest date and time stamp on it and it will look something like this zm_yourmapname_2017_03_21_20_52_56.map

copy this file and put it into your maps mapsource folder located \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Black Ops III\map_source\zm

now rename the file by deleting the time and date part at the end of if ie zm_yourmapname_2017_03_21_20_52_56 to look like this zm_yourmapname.map

now your map is where it done the last auto/manual save

now if you have deleted your map from radiant as in its no longer in the list of maps to open

just launch radiant level editor then select (file) then (open) point it to the file you just copied earlier

and you should be back to the maps last save point :)

odd coz mine and every other friend of mine who uses radiant there backup files are .map files so i don't know how to help you with this tbh i only found out about the radiant back up file from a few modders who have youtube channels so i have no idea why your radiant is saving the back up files as they are and not as .map files ???????????

yeah i just double checked Call of Duty Black Ops III\radiant\autosave_backup every file in here is a .map same with my bro's and my mates ????

i know thats what is so weird about my backup file :( because when i made a new map and looked at the autosave file it was like all the other youtubers', but the one i was working on had a weird type of language in it and i was not sure why. and all of the autosaves are like that too

Wanted to say, try using a converter to try to find the language of it (hex, base64,...), but i tried and nothing gives an ascii version.
