how come everytime i press space bar to copy and paste an object, the copied piece ends up not at all alined with the original object, is there any setting to fix this?

It's pretty much been like this in older CoD Radant's and GTKRadiant, if you want to keep alignment, use CTRL+V -> CTRL+C.
